I used to stop by my great aunts home on Sycamore Street and she would go on for 20 minutes about how I had not been to visit her I used to say but aunt mae I am here now.
Whenever I would visit the nursing home just about the same thing would happen. She would then grill me about who I was and I would have to explain for the better part of my visit that I was jean's son (Shirley Dexter) Ewell. Once I thought I had it all resolved she would ask why I didn't bring her a hot dog and this...

I am going to miss you ms Johnson you were my girl at golden living I was your housekeeper and thought the world of you and loved you you loved your Pepsi's, Hershey kisses,peppermint patties and you would share them with me and your had your little babies at the foot of your bed may god bless your family and we will meet again some day

My Mother and her other siblings would refer to her as 'Mae Lizzie' - some people knew her as 'Mae' and in Brooklyn where she lived for over 30 years, she was known as 'Mary Elizabeth'. But everyone knew her throughout her lifetime as a sweet, kind, and gentle soul who always loved and worshipped the Lord; who would do anything for anyone.
