It was a privilege to know Mary Allen Jolley. My father worked for Carl Elliott as his first Administrative Assistant. Mary followed after him, and she accomplished so much as his Legislative Assistance, and went on to even greater heights, always with the purpose of making life better for others.. When I graduated from the University of Alabama, Mary offered me a position working with the House Select Committee on Government research. We reconnected in later years, and I had several...

I first met Dr. Mary as we worked together on a the Tuscaloosa Civil Rights History Task Force./ Reconciliation . Then we became intertwined in many other ways as our spirits had similar heartbeats towards helping people and bridging gaps. I will always cherish our visits, our conversations, the things I personally learned from this great woman who has made a difference in our world. Rest in peace my friend, You will always be one of my recognized Longevity Hall of Famers.

My heart aches at learning of the passing of Mary Jolley. What an amazing individual! My condolences to all the family. My father, Hershell McNutt, was Carl Elliott's first Administrative Assistant. We moved to Washington, along with his family, at Christmas time in 1948, when I was in the first grade.
