Not sure what to say?

Mary and I became friends soon after she arrived for work at the Consulate General in St. Petersburg, Russia. She and I shared the same fondness for good wine, good food and the good life. I have many fond memories of her: we vacationed together once in Tuscany; she visited me in Vienna, where we visited the chapel where she married Jerry and I shared in a very emotional moment with her as she remembered their wedding ceremony; I visited her in Littleton after she retired and helped her...

I met Mary in 1999 in Ankara, Turkey. We had many wonderful moments carpet shopping and sampling some wonderful Australian wine. When Mary retired and moved to Denver, I had the opportunity to visit her; even with her portable oxygen tank we visited the Coors Brewery and drove up to Breckenridge for the day. She kept me amused with the humorous emails she forwarded on a regular basis and quite honestly, it was the lack of emails that made me wonder if something had happened...

Mary was an inspiration to me the way she handled the severe limitations her disease imposed upon her the past 7 years. She didn't let them stop her from doing the activities she loved until the very end. I will miss her wit, charm, and tenacity when we were in St. Leonard grammar school in the early 1950s and the two class reunions she made a point to attend despite her limitations.

I had not seen Mary for several years but I used to spend good times with her and other women friends. The news of her death came unexpectedly and sadness filled my heart because I'm sure she will be missed. I will pray for her soul! All my condolences to her family.

Dear Bill, Lowell, Ray and Collette,

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of
your sister Mary. Please know that you
are all in my thoughts and prayers.

When I think of Mary, I think of wine, women, and song. I'll explain: Wine goes without saying; women has to do with the fact that we went to see Menopause, the musical, together some years ago and had a lovely, laughing time; and song, of course, is opera. I will miss her very much. My deepest condolences to her family. Doann Houghton-Alico

My deepest sympathy to Mary's family and friends. For almost 5 years Mary and I were neighbors. She brought a special flavor to our little neighborhood that will be greatly missed.

Good by my beautiful friend, I will always miss you.

I will miss my buddie Mary very much, but you left me with too much wine to finish alone. I will always remember you and your fantastic smile. Joe Bellezzo, LaCosta, Ca
