Mary Lindgren Jubitz

Mary will always be in my heart. Her graciousness and spirituality will always be foremost in my memory. I truly miss her.

Today's celebration confirmed the amazing person that Mary was in all walks of life. She made you want to be a better person and reach for new goals. It was such a treat to see Cory, Ben, and David. Ben and Cory were her proudest accomplishments. I will miss our lunches and long conversations along with remembering the remarkable times our lives crossed in school, curriculum, and SMART. I am comforted that after so many health challenges she is at rest and I'm certain taking on a project...

Sending on our condolences to her family and close friends -- such a lovely and sweet demeanor -- she made so many wonderful contributions to Portland, and it was always a pleasure to visit with her when we were visiting family there.

Even in grade school at Glencoe and then at Washington High, we all recognized the blend of success and kindness in all the Lindgren kids. We knew they'd make a positive difference in our world and they did! I witnessed Mary's excellent leadership and passion for kids while leading the SMART program. Her heart was filled with a love for others and she lived her life with grace and kindness.

I am so sorry to learn of my cousin Mary's passing. I remember her as the mighty little cousin standing tall among her brothers and can see that she continued to bring energy and commitment throughout her life. My heart goes out to her family.

I have so many happy memories of working with Mary when we were both in Curriculum in PPS. Ever the up-beat, insightful creative colleague, it was such an incredible experience to work along side her in many projects. We also became good friends...even long after our PPS days. And her work with SMART...so typical of her total commitment to learning and kids. It was an honor to know dear Mary; I shall miss her and our e-mails a lot! Mary was such a brave heart.

I didn't meet Mary until late in her career, when I learned this leader of SMART whom I had long admired from afar was the sister of my beloved eye doctor, Bob Lindgren, who had passed away suddenly. I sent her a sympathy card, we agreed to meet and a friendship was born. I am so grateful to have had this generous, insightful and inspirational woman in my life for the past decade. Mary Jubitz was a leader with heart and soul, who made a significant contribution to children and others throughout her 70 years. I knew Mary through Creative Initiative years, then grew close through our joint work to elect President Obama and particularly in support of Gun Safety for Oregonians. Mary's love of children compelled her to work devotedly for gun safety after Sandy Hook. I greatly admired her good mind, focus and dedicated advocacy despite her pain. She inspired me and others...

I met Mary several years ago when we were working on gun safety issues. She was a wonderful writer and her work was often published in the Oregonian Opinion Page. Like everything else she did, she brought kindness and thoughtfulness to our discussions on this difficult issue.
I will miss her as will all the gun safety advocates in Oregon.
