Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry to read about Mary's passing. I knew her when she used to visit my tenant Paolo Bierdini in San Francisco. I'm in NY this week-end for the first time in years and was hoping to re-connect with her. I am so sorry that I am unable to. RIP Mary. You were definitely a positive force in this universe.

Heartfelt sympathies to the family on the passing of Saintly, gracious, and charming Mary Ellen........Was introduced to her by her brother Richard so many decades back.... Mary was just the definition of evertthing good. RIP dear Mary Ellen God Bless your memory .....Those that knew you will miss you, and those that didn't, well they missed out. HRW

Mary was a stalwart of the Evergreen Review: we will always remain grateful to her. She was an amazing, original person, and I'm glad to have known her. A New York classic.

Mary was indeed a great friend of Poets House. I personally will miss her wit and sense of humor and her original outlook on life. Her appearance always brightened the surroundings.

I know that I can´t fix the pain you feel or even comfort you, but please know your family & fiends are with you to bring you comfort in your time of need. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Mary brought a tremendous energy and creativity to her work as a Putney School alumna and trustee. A one of a kind woman; she'll be missed.

Mary's was devoted to philanthropy and the arts. Her conviction in making big dreams a reality inspired everyone around her to expand their definition of what's possible and take up the cause to create a better world. She will be missed.

Mary was a long time trustee of the Saint-Gaudens Memorial and she will be greatly missed.
