Mary Lou was the kindest, most compassionate sister-in-law I could ever ask for. I loved laughing with her, talking with her and shopping with her. She opened her home and her heart to all 10 of us siblings. Every year we all went to Ocean Isle Beach where she and Joe owned a beach house. She always brought her delicious homemade strawberry jam and her wonderful lasagne for us. She was an awesome cook! Even the year she was too sick to go to the beach, she insisted that we all go...

My life changed when you moved in next door Mary Lou. You were not only a dear friend but a reliable source of comfort and conversation while raising our children. You bounced my baby girl Jennifer on your knee in 1975 while we had afternoon coffee In my kitchen. We shared work at George Mason University together when our children were all in school—me the morning shift, you the afternoon. We played soccer together in our late 30s and early 40s and shared midlife “crisis” problems and...
