Not sure what to say?

My sincere condolences to all the Knapes on the passing of Mary, your mother. We were so fortunate to grow up in such a great neighborhood. Your home on Shawnee Drive was often the epicenter for outdoor activities; from ice skating in the winter to hide-and-seek or kick-the-can on warm summer nights. Your mom always welcomed one and all with her sweet, easy-going demeanor. I remember jumping from bed to bed in the large room above the garage (the boys' bedroom I think) and never getting...

Dear Steve, Tom, Rick, Anne, Mara, Peter and Melissa, Your mom was such a wonderful woman, so kind and loving to all of her children's friends on Shawnee Drive. I feel so lucky to have grown up in our neighborhood and have many happy memories. Connections with your parents continued even after I moved out of state. Your mother stayed in touch with me after my mom, Mary Cay, moved to Illinois due to her diagnosis of Alzheimer's. She always sent Christmas cards and notes. I still have the...

Dear Steve, Tom, Rick, Anne, Mara, Peter, Melissa: Wishing you peace and comfort on the passing of your mother. So many good memories of playing in your backyard on Shawnee and throughout our "hood." Your mother was always welcoming us over and happy to have us all in the bedroom above the garage playing games. It was a simpler and more neighborly time as your mother helped create that environment. Hoping you will carry Mary's legacy forward with your own families. All the best, Joe

I have such terrific memories of growing up on Shawnee Street with the Knape family. Endless hours of kick-the-can, 500 ball, ice hockey, etc. Your mom was always so kind and generous, making sure we had snacks and drinks to keep us fueled for more fun. Such a wonderful woman. Such a wonderful family. Loving thoughts and prayers to all.

My condolences to the Knape Family on your loss. Mary was such a nice woman and I enjoyed talking with her whenever we were together. How lovely that you were able to spend so many wonderful years with her. She will be missed.

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. She was one of the sweetest and most kind people I have ever met. Always had a smile and great sense of humor. Prayers for your family. Beri Bouwman Bek
