I was so sorry to learn of Mary's passing. The other day, an artist friend of mine told me that she needed much more practice in flower painting. I immediately thought of Mary's flowers and decided to see if I could find out what she was up to these days. I found her obituary.
I was in Mary's painting class when your family lived in Pennington. She held it in the basement and we learned so much from her. In addition to the learning that went on, it was a place where we shared our latest problems and concerns. We called it our therapy group. There was always a dog underfoot too. It was a precious time.
Funny but I can't remember how I met Mary. My daughter Susan attended Stuart and maybe that was where we met. Stacy, I remember that you were at Stuart Too, but you were younger than my daughter.
Please accept my condolences on the loss of your dear mother and wife. She was such a special soul and loved by all who knew her.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mary was my first watercolor painting teacher. I will never forget walking into her gorgeous sunlit studio in Pennington, New Jersey. Outside was a glorious garden, which she tended herself. She not only taught us how to paint, but she taught us the botanical facts for each flower. Each week a new flower would appear in dozens of Lenox china vases scattered around the room. That was in 1982 and because of Mary I have enjoyed the art of watercolor ever since. We reunited a few years back in her new studio in Lyme Connecticut. Such a lovely and kind person. I cherish the time I spent with Mary.

Woody,
I cannot not tell you how heartbroken and saddened I was to learn of your beloved Mary's passing. She was a friend to beat all friends and she so loved art and Christmas.. and probably the big reason she always loved her big box of our Jeanmarie Creations Christmas gift bags sent to her most years.

I will never forget that evening at dinner so many years ago that Mary used my glasses to read the menu and realized that my prescription was perfect for her and that she could see better than she had in a long time. What are the chances of that happening?!

May God bless you and your family Woody and keep you all Safe & Healthy.... just as HE is doing now for YOUR MARY!!

With my most deepest sympathy my friend,
Stan Gilkey
