Mrs Large, you was friends with my grandmother Valentina VanDyck. Both inspired myself and several family members into the world of arts and crafts. I will always remember working with clay, glue, construction paper and all sorts of other tools to make creative items. I can see you and grandma VanDyck doing Macrame up in heaven. Thank you for the lessons learned at NEMS.

Mary and I would see each other at Mich. Art Education Assoc. meetings when we were both area public school art teachers. Then we became reacquainted when we were both teaching at the KIA. Mary was first and foremost, a kind loving person. She had an artists' sensitivity which carried over into the empathy and caring with which she interacted with people. I was often blessed by being on the receiving end of one of her smiles. All who knew Mary will be able to close their eyes, and see...

I had Mrs. Large as my Art teacher in 1976 to 78 at NEMS in Comstock. She was not only an excellent teacher but also a wonderful person. I will always feel blessed to have had her in my life even so briefly. God bless her.

Mary was a wonderful artist - I loved her drawings of cows, and of Italian settings! She was so sweet-tempered, cheerful and tolerant. It seems that recent years have been difficult for her. Rest in peace, my friend. Rest in peace.
