MARY LASPISA Obituary

Mary Laspisa, age 95, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2024, in her home of 62 years. Preceded in death by her dear husband, John Laspisa; her loving parents, Joanna and Nick Leftakes; and her 3 devoted brothers, Steve, Dan, and Tom Leftakes. Mary is survived by her two daughters, Cindy (Eric) Fehlau, Deanna (Joe) Salasek, and her stepson, Michael (Karen) Laspisa. Loving Yiayia (Grandmother) to Dean and Greg Fehlau and Joanna and Frank (Jen) Martorelli. ProYiayia (Great-Grandmother) to Avery, Melody, Theo, Emersyn, Francesca. Loving Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Known as the matriarch of the block, she loved her home dearly and was its original owner. Mary avidly followed tennis and golf. She was positive, cheerful, and encouraged her children and grandchildren with her wisdom. They were her greatest gifts. Mary worked for United Airlines for 17 years as an Executive Secretary and concluded her career in Inflight Services at O'Hare. She traveled the world and inspired her children and grandchildren to do the same. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 9:30 AM- 12:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St., Des Plaines, IL 60016. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Private Inurnment will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
