Dear Family

I remember Mary well and regret that I had so little time with her ...what I admired most was her excellence as a person: warm, caring, family-centric and elegant. and FUN!...always beautiful on the outside, with her internal values shining through. Mary had a great sense of self-expression: style, interests and adventure were all part of that personalized mixture that brought her into such high regard from all of us who interacted with her...love and appreciation were...

Mrs. Mark seemed a patron AND participant/enjoyer of most significant Portland cultural organizations. My family and I are grateful for this largeness of spirit and willingness to share personal effort and resources.

Dear Family, Nancy and I just heard about your loss and we send our heartfelt sympathy to all of you. You and our community will miss Mary greatly. Her generosity, kindness and common sense cannot be replaced. Sincerely, Dr. Gerald and Nancy Green

Dear Pete and the Mark family
We had the honor to meet Mary and Pete through her nephew and my classmate, Bill Kridel, of New York, and it has been our great pleasure to know them both.

Pete, the graciousness and kindness you and Mary have shown us is deeply appreciated. Mary's tremendous dignity and her sincere warmth are qualities we respected and will remember.

Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your dear wife and mother. Our prayers will be with you.

To Jim Mark and Family, I was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I never had the pleasure of meeting her but, by the article in the paper, I can see she was quite a gal and I'm certain will be missed by your family and the community.

I always enjoyed hearing from Mary. She was such a warm, caring person with a wonderful laugh. The world has lost a very gracious, loving woman. My prayers are with you all.

As a docent at the Art Museum for several decades, Lois Ross Davidson, taught our family to appreciate the beautiful treasures of Portland, and Mary Mark was one of them.

Mary was so kind when I spoke to her of my passion for art and interest in volunteering at the Art Museum, way back in the 90's. She not only encouraged me to get involved with our wonderful museum, but also made me promise to keep painting. I have done both. My deepest sympathies to her friends and family are offered with gratitude - thank you for sharing her with our beloved community.
