O'Neill Funeral Home - Cumberland Obituary

Mary A. Marszalkowski, 86, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Friday, July 26, 2024.  She was the wife of the late Theodore “Teddy” Marszalkowski.  Mary and Teddy met square dancing and they were married for 62 years before he passed away in 2018.

Born in East Bethel, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Lois (Lord) McKee. Mary loved her friends and family and would show it through her cooking. She loved her animals and never refused to help a sick kitten. She meticulously painted beautiful pictures, and she couldn’t walk by a flower without taking it home to add to her overflowing garden. Her nose was always in a book, and she loved talking about her favorite stories. She had a passion for antiques, a large beer stein collection and her house was well protected with suits of armor, wizards, and dragons! She had many interesting jobs throughout her lifetime, but her favorite was taking care of her three boys.

She is survived by two sons, James Marszalkowski (Donna), and Richard Marszalkowski (Dawn) and she was preceded in death by her son Daniel Marszalkowski. Her loving grandchildren Alyson Hicks (Timothy), Alex Marszalkowski, Adam Marszalkowski (Kara), Joseph Marszalkowski, and Samantha Marszalkowski (Adam) and two great-grandchildren, Michael Marszalkowski, and Tyler Hicks, will miss her greatly but cherish all the memories she left behind. She leaves behind one brother, Robert McKee, and three sisters, Virginia Fiore, Cecilia Burch, and Rose “Cookie” Chevalier.  She was the sister of the late Richard McKee and Susan Pond.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 3rd at 10:30 AM in the O’Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, Rhode Island. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours will be held from 9:30–10:30 AM, prior to the Service, in the O’Neill Funeral Home.
