A.O. Smith Funeral Home - First Street Chapel Obituary

Mrs. Mary "Honey" Mathis, 105, of Texarkana, TX., passed away April 14th at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, TX.

She was born June11, 1909 in Kiblah , LA. to Osborn and Eldora Russell Howard.

She united with St. James Missionary Baptist Church in 1931 and was a faithful member for over 85 years, until her health failed. She retired from work at the age of 92 .

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willie "Bill" Mathis, and one son Willie Charles Mathis

Survivors include: three grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20th , at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Texarkana, AR with burial following in the Fair Haven Cemetery in Texarkana, AR. Under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Stamps. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Jordan.

The body will lie in state Monday from 10:a.m. until service at the church from.
