Mary was a dear friend and in many ways like a member of the Ervin family. Her service to my father-in-law, Senator Sam Ervin, was beyond measure. I worked with her in the Pilot Club, both here in Morganton and on the state level, and she was always dedicated and able in everythig she did. Mary was an example for us all.
