Chambers Funeral Homes - Cleveland Obituary

MARY LOU McCARTHY (nee Jackson) passed away on September 1, 2025 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. McCarthy. She was an amazing mother to Kevin (Jenifer), Ellen and Patrick (Christine), spending hundreds of hours at wrestling practices, tournaments, dual meets as well as tennis, swimming and golf matches. She also spent way too much time concealing from their father the mischief created by her beloved children. She was a fabulous grandmother to Kelly Ferring (Will), Ryan and Katie, and was thankful to be able to meet her great-grandchildren, Emma and Cameron Ferring. She was devoted to her faith, her many poodles and the Cleveland Indians. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland (Ursuline Sisters Health Care), 6805 Parkland Blvd., Suite 175, Mayfield Hts., OH 44124.

Not sure what to say?

We bough our first home on Milburn from the McCarthys. For many years we were in a neighborhood group who socialized and Mary Lou was a great part of fun evenings. God Bless.9

I was so sorry to learn about the passing of Mary Lou. I have such wonderful memories of visiting her, playing golf, hosting Ursuline College events such as alumnae gatherings and the fashion show. What a wonderful woman, so kind, thoughtful and generous. She touched the hearts of many and will be missed. May she share now in the joy of her heavenly home. Prayers for her entire family.

We were friends for 50 years and I will miss our Monday calls, but I know you are at peace with God in heaven.
