Mary Helen Meeker, 94, of Glen Burnie, MD peacefully walked into the arms of her savior on June 24, 2023. Her
devotion to her family and love of God supported her through unforeseen complications from surgery.
Mary Helen was born on October 27 th , 1928, to Chester Thurman Arnold and Mary Elizabeth (Duke) Arnold in Hickory,
PA. She married George V. Meeker Sr. on October 24, 1944, and they later moved to Maryland in 1946.
As a devout Christian, Mary Helen traveled to the Holy Land numerous times, and made several Work and Witness trips
to Central and South America. She was a dedicated mother to her five children and raised a family committed to their
faith. Mary Helen was a lifelong member of the Grace Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene (formerly Marley Park
Church of the Nazarene) since the late 1940’s. Outside of her involvement in the church, she worked for Westinghouse,
where she retired after 30+ years. Mary Helen was also a founding member of Oakwood Wesleyan Church (formerly Pilgrim Holiness)
Throughout the years, Mary Helen enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, and flower gardening, and passed down many
family traditions to those who loved her most. She lived a full and happy life, very often enjoying special events and
activities with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Her family will deeply miss
their Mom Mom.
Mary Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George V. Meeker Sr, her stillborn daughter Brenda Carol,
her parents, her siblings, George Arnold, Viola Sheppard, Raymond Arnold, Theda Haynes, and Tom Arnold, and her
daughter-in-law, Wilso Jean Meeker (George). She is survived by her loving children, George V. Meeker Jr. (Sandy),
Juanita M. Thomas (Howard), Chester W. Meeker (Vicki), Richard C. Meeker Sr. (Jo Ann), Donald E. Meeker (Lilly), her
stepdaughter Esther Mary Easterling, her brother William O. Arnold (Gloria), 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 3
great-great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Mary Helen’s Granddaughter, Paula Meeker, and her
nieces, Brenda Lester and Linda Haynes, for the compassionate care they provided for Mary Helen over several weeks
before her passing.
Viewings will be held on Thursday evening, June 29 th , from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home, 421
Crain Highway, S.E. Glen Burnie, MD 21061. On Friday morning, June 30 th , there will be services held at Grace Pointe
Community Church of the Nazarene, 61 Gambrills Road, Severn, MD 21144, with a viewing at 10 am and a funeral
service at 11 am, Rev. Phil Nase officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of
Mary Helen Meeker may be made to Grace Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene – Missions International Fund

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this very difficult time, I have many many memories with Mrs.Helen she was always so welcoming to me and my family , My Dad referred to her as "Mom" and it was very difficult for him to move from his house , he did'nt want to leave her , as she was the best next door neighbor , she would often bake him treats and bring them over to him, like a traditional neighbor, Her and I often talked in the evenings as she was watering her flowers or going...
