Mary Leatrice Morris

Mary Leatrice Morris, 84, of Earlysville, Virginia, died on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born on March 22, 1928, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to the late Whit and Mattie Morris.

Mrs. Morris was a member of the Nortonsville Pentecostal Holiness Church. She had a passion for gardening her vegetables and flowers, crocheting afghans for her family and canning fruits and vegetables. Above all her love was in her family. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose tender nature and sweet smile will be missed by all she knew.

She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Morris and Dale Morris, both of Earlysville; her grandchildren, Chrissy Crawford and Matthew Crawford; three very special friends, Johnny and Patsy Roach and Dirk DeHooge, who she loved and cared for as her own; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Morris; her brother, James W. Morris; and her grandson, Brandon Morris.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and PCA's of 4 Central and 3rd Floor Palliative Unit of the University of Virginia for the love and compassion they showed to Mrs. Morris and her family. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2012, at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Nortonsville Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery with Johnny Roach officiating.

An online guestbook is available at www.ryanfuneral.com. Ryan Funeral Home of Ruckersville, Virginia, is handling the arrangements.

Not sure what to say?

This has been the hardest week of my life other than losing my father. Sister you always loved me no matter what. I know you are in a better place and resting peacefully with all the loved ones that have gone before. Life will not be the same without you. You will always be with me in my heart. I love you and will see you again. I feel like apart of me left with you. I know my hurt does not compare to what Wanda, Bootie, Mathew and Chrissy must be feeling. Love you all. Love you Sister

Wanda I was so sorry to hear of the passing of you mother. Your in my thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine what you are going through but please know you have lots of friends that are here for you and will help you through this heartache. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Love you Wanda
