MORRISON, Mary Elizabeth - Of Grand Blanc, age 81, died Friday, May 2, 2008 surrounded by all of her children at her residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM, Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11824 South Saginaw Street, Father Douglas Osborn officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Powers Catholic High School Tuition Assistance or Heartland Hospice. Visitation 4-8PM Sunday and 1-8PM Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A prayer service will be held at 6:30Pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Morrison will be at the church from 10AM, Tuesday until the time of the Mass. Mary was born in Mt. Morris, Michigan on August 11, 1926, the daughter of Ashton and Mary Irene James. On January 31, 1948, Mary was united in marriage to Vincent Morrison and he preceded her in death in 1991. Together they owned and operated Morrison's Mobil Gas Station for many years. Mrs. Morrison retired from Mott Community College. She was a strong, brave and courageous woman who loved her family and was proud of her Irish heritage. Mary was a devoted mother to her 9 favorite children, Jerry and wife Diane, Jim, Liz Morrison, John and wife Beth, Mary Jeanne and husband Jim DuBuc, Trish Morrison, Joe and wife Colleen, Colleen and husband Jerry Tomczak, Helen and husband Mike Alfaro; 21 grandchildren; 7 great-grand-children; brother, Stan and wife Jean James. She was preceded in death by her husband; infant grandson, Lance and dear friend, Helen Burns, who was like a mother to her. To all the Morrison family, you have my deepest sympathy. I last saw your mom at my dad's funeral (Ray Barber) Jerry brought her to the funeral home. We were able to share some laughs and memories. Jerry thank you for bringing her to see dad. I know she is with your dad and the ol gang is probably already getting together. What a time they will have. God Bless you all.

On behalf of all the Barber's, please know our heart aches at the passing of Mary Morrison. I remember so vividly taking my dad to Vinces funeral in 1991. I remember how badly I felt, because my father felt so bad. He was watching one of his dearest friends being buried.

My folks LOVED Vince and Mary! Vince was my fathers best man and our parents were life long friends.
