I had thought about Mary Ellen in the last few years, wondering how she was doing. I shared an office with her at Thresholds from 1994 to 1995, as I completed my second year internship in social work through Loyola University. Although she was not my official mentor, she was quite supportive and encouraging. she provided additional information about how to assist others and provide them with a sense of dignity. Mary Ellen was one of the most joyful and creative people I had the pleasure to work and be friends with. Bill and I will miss those blueberry adventures in Michigan where she and you, Bob, made everything fun.

Mary Ellen was a very special lady. She was a joy to work with in politics and was always a very positive person. Bob, you were the love of her life and seeing the two of you together always brought a smile to my face. She will be missed.
