I was thinking of Mary today. It is hard to believe that it has been almost 5 years. She was a great nursing colleague, as well as a person of great faith. I still miss her.

Dear family,
I am a former BSN student with Dr Pabst and she was the best instructor and person I have ever met. I went on for my Master's due to her encouragement and even though she was not my instructor she was always available for me.
I am so sorry and saddened by her passing.
My deepest condolences to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Rosanna Spatola

Dear Dick and Doug: I am so sorry for your loss (and sorry I was not able to be with Laurie today at the Mass). What a wonderful friend and neighbor; we all loved Mary and will miss her. Steve, Laurie, Rachel, Rebekah and Jared Landsman

Dear Dick and Doug, My heart goes out to you at this saddest of times. Mary has been a loyal friend since kindergarten. She never forgot a birthday. We talked often of getting together; sadly that never came to be, but I feel as close to her today as when we were neighbors in Collingswood. Our world is an emptier place without her; she was an inspiration to each of us who knew her.

Dr. Pabst was a wonderful nurse, mentor and educator. She helped guide me through undergraduate and graduate work at Elmhurst as well as career work and beyond in the field of nursing. She will always hold a special place in my heart and act as a pillar in my nursing foundation forever more. Her passion and joy was contagious. You will be greatly missed.

Dr. Pabst was first my teacher and then a colleague. She had a passion for the nursing profession that was inspirational. She will be greatly missed.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Dr. Mary Pabst was recognized by the State of Illinois as a Nurse Educator Fellow in 2009. Her generous spirit helped to enhance the educational experiences of her students and the pedagogical skills of her colleagues. May her service and spirit continue to inspire others.
