I was very saddened today to hear about Mary's passing. I had the good fortune of working with Mary for the past 16 years. She will be greatly missed.

To the family of Mary
I am sorry to hear of Mary's passing. I went to grammar school and high school with Mary, and she had a great sense of humor and loving heart. I spoke to her occasionally during the years and was greatly impressed with her passion and love for the people she lived and worked with. She will be missed.

I too, am lost for words to have lost an old friend who was practically family. Mary was the quintessential journalist, a fierce competitor when I was at Associated Press and she headed the Reuters office in the chaotic, bombswept days of the early 1990s, and yet the warmest of people and most charming of hostesses at the many parties all her friends enjoyed at her homes in Miraflores and down at the beach in Punta Hermosa.
