It is with a great deal of personal admiration and respect that I write this note about Mary Elizabeth Pries. She was my very close friend and advisor on anything going on inside the Capitol. She was a dear friend and a pleasure to be around. I have known her over 60 years and never saw her when she didn’t have a good word and beautiful smile to make you feel warm and happy. She was a person that everyone gravitated to at work, a party or just a gathering because she always made you feel...

I will miss you, Mary. Adventure on. My deepest sympathy for your family and many, many friends, who will miss your sparkle. We grew up together on Madison Street. We begged our parents to take us horseback riding every weekend. Swimming, skiing, sledding, family outings, ditching our brothers, chasing boys, Catholic Girls Camp..always fun with Mary! I am so thankful that we stayed in touch as grown ups. We shared our lives, even over the miles from Madison Street.
