Mary Genevieve "Ginger" Rafferty

I was so sorry to hear of Genevieve's passing. She was a true fighter for women's rights and civil rights, in general. I knew of her years ago and more recently as a friend on Facebook. She always stood on the right side of history. The world will be a poorer place without her.

While she lived in Washington, DC's Capitol Hill neighborhood for a few years after I moved there in the late 60s, I had been a friend of her family for nearly 70 years. Her older brother Dan was my best friend. Ginger, as she was known, was always positive and full of life. I often saw her when I visited my home town these past 56 years and I enjoyed her positivity and her creativity. I am very saddened by her sudden death.

Ginger was my best friend for many years. She was fierce, bold, loving, loyal beautiful person. We laughed, cried and spent many years together. We danced at the Col ballroom and draft house til we dropped. Life with Ginger was happiness!! RIP my dear friend. You are missed and loved.
