Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth Obituary

 Mary Elizabeth (Reif) Blossom

Flushing, MI formerly of Vassar, MI

On October 7th, 2020, with her husband and daughter by her side, Mary Elizabeth Blossom went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

Mary Elizabeth was born on June 4th, 1934 to Erwin and Ruth (Buchinger) Reif in Richville, Michigan.  She was the youngest of six children.

On March 28th, 1953 she married the love of her life, Aaron Kay Blossom.  In their 67 years of marriage they had seven children, 25 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren.

Mary led a life of service to her Lord, her family, and extended kindness to all who met her.  She made the best pies, butterhorns, leckerli, and stollen bread.  However, she is best known for her love, talent and passion for art.  She was an accomplished artist, having her paintings sold in department stores and on Mackinac Island.  She taught her gift to many and spread her artistic beauty through paintings.

Those left to cherish her memory include (take a breath here, it’s a long list) her husband Aaron Kay Blossom; her children, Aaron “Paul” (Pam) Blossom, Sandra (Roger) Cederberg, Daniel (Kristine) Blossom, Mary (Gary) Petro, Sara (Jerry) Bostwick, James (Susan) Blossom, Matthew (Silvia) Blossom; her grandchildren, Aaron (Amanda) Blossom, Andrew Blossom and Samantha Howard, Joseph (Ashley) Blossom, Lydia Carter, Lauren (Marty) Odom, Michael (Sarah) Blossom, Laura (Ashley) Harte, Arin (Paul) Shupe, Sally (Brent) Colosky, Sara (Kirk) Boyd, Daniel (Marcie) Blossom, Kate Blossom, Gary (Kate) Petro, Ethan (Joni) Petro, Annie (Liz) Cooney-Petro, Benjamin (Jamie) Petro, Fernando Ponce, Nina (Emory) Ponce-Brown, Marisa (Josh) Johnson, Saramaria Ponce, Lydia (Brice) Reheard, Mikala (Alex) Slotnick, Jaime (Ryan) Walsh, Julie (Zach) Hartley, Seth Blossom; 31 great grandchildren; and many friends, students, and beloved patients of her husband’s.

She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Blossom, daughter-in-law Orysia Blossom, granddaughter Rochelle, parents Erwin and Ruth, her five siblings, Robert, Carl, Raymond, Ruth, and James, and her life-long friend Jackie Koch.

I am sooo very sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful woman whom I greatly admired.

Mary painted and framed a beautiful picture of flowers identical to those on my daughter and son-in-law's wedding invitation. It was a very thoughtful gift for Roland and Luann Szukhent, Jr. in 1989.

Our deepest condolences to Dr. Blossom and family for your loss. Sending prayers for peace and comfort.
