Not sure what to say?

Mary Riordan and her grandsons John and Andrew in 2010

On behalf of the Purple District members, please accept our heartfelt condolences during this time of sorrow. May the many wonderful memories of Mary sustain you and bring comfort to your family in the days and months ahead. In the spirit of compassion and caring, Purple District members of Fountain Street Church.

When I was a student at Cranbrook Academy of Art, Mary had helped me so many ways to overcome from various difficulties. It was the time when my mother in Japan had died suddenly and I could not go home before my thesis exhibition.

You will be dearly missed.

Mary was one of the most active members at Cook Valley, both in a leadership and a supportive role! We will miss her cooperative attitude and genial personality.

While I only knew Mary for a few short years, my life has been enriched from our association. She was a member of Ruth Waalkes' sewing class. She always contributed interesting things to our conversations. I remember her making a jacket from ikat silk she had purchased in India. I believe she wore it to the wedding of one of her grandchildren. While she was never pretentious, one was aware of the richness of her life. I will miss her.

Mary was a very dear friend of ours and we feel fortunate to have known her. Her professionalism in her career and her personal wit will be greatly missed.
