Mary Lynn (Sampson) Rivett, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2008 at MidMichigan Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mary ("Lynnie") was born to Albert "Boyd" Sampson and Mary Ruth (Briggs) Sampson on her father's birthday, Jan. 5, 1950 in Gladwin. A graduate of Meridian High School, she married her high school sweetheart and husband of 40 years, David D. Rivett, who survives her. Together they have three daughters, Tammy Lynn and husband Jonathan J. Nelson of Hope, Tracie Leigh and husband Michael A. Smith of Sanford, Trisha Lu and Husband Shane A. Anderson of Troy, Ohio; 10 dearly loved grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Ruth Anne Kowalis (Don) of Yuma, Arizona, Nancy Bowland (Bruce) of Gladwin, and Thomas Sampson of George West, Texas, and many precious aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was employed for several years at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland, but her main occupation was spoiling her grandchildren. She loved them wholeheartedly and leaves each one with a heart full of memories to treasure for years to come. She enjoyed fishing at the lake, never missed a family dinner or special occasion and leaves us with a legacy of what it means to care for others. She was a talented seamstress, loved to crochet and could make a leather shoe taste like filet mignon! Mary loved her flowers and roses; she loved gardening and looked forward to her daily "posey patrol." She is truly loved and deeply missed. Mary was welcomed into heaven by her sister, Barbara, her brothers, Albert E. "Buddy" and James B., as well as her father, Boyd. The family would like to express their gratitude for the highly professional and loving care she received at Regional Dialysis Services of Midland and Mid-Michigan Medical Center.
Funeral services will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2008 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler St., with Chaplain Roger Stauffer officiating. Mary's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 p.m. until time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Michigan Kidney Foundation.

Aunt Lynn was an amazing person. I loved her very much and will miss her tremendously. I'm not sure that this gives me enough space to type all of my memories, but here goes.
She always called me "Angel" and to this day when someone calls me "Angel" I think "Aunt Lynnie".
When I was very little and would stay that night she would wake me up to potty so I wouldn't have an accident. When I would go pee she'd say "You peed a river." Now I say that to my Becca. I think of Aunt...
