Happy times at ONU - Christmas in the dorm, 1972

Having Mary Beth as a friend in college helped make a rigorous load of
coursework fun. Whether singing dirges while walking across the Tundra
to a final exam, or coming up with a mnemonic to help us learn the
names of the essential amino acids, Mary Beth was always in the thick
of things. I count her friendship as one of the highlights of my life,
and I will remember the sound of her laughter always.

To the Scheible family, our deepest sympathy on the loss of your wife and mother. ~ John, Ann, Becky & Chris (SI '03) Zakelj

Mary Beth was my dear and devoted friend. She was there for me when my husband died several years ago. I am so happy to have spent time with her on her birthday when I flew to Cleveland to be with her. How precious that day will always be to me! Bill, my heart goes out to you and your children -- I know far too well what you are going through, but I know too that the Lord will give you strength. You are in my constant thoughts and prayers.

Mary Beth's gentle nature, patience, and kindness endeared her to us and her good humor, quick wit, and sense of fun (i can still hear that wonderful laughter!) made us just want to be with her. Who couldn't love the girl who introduced you to the Oompa Loompa song, Star Wars (hey! my brother and i saw the greatest movie!), and, of course, all things Cleveland. I had the incredible good luck to be assigned as Mary Beth's room mate nearly 35 years ago. It was the beginning of a treasured...

The few times I met Mary Beth I was touched by her warmth and friendliness. Prayers and thoughts go out to her family and brother (my son-in-law). Im deepest sympathy, June Hamilton Ft Wayne,IN

Mary Beth--Such a wonderful person, smart, funny, welcoming, warm, kind, and so sympathetic that any sad story would bring a tear to your eye whether you knew the person or not. You always seemed to be enjoying life and saw the humor even in the hard times. You didn't let your illness define you or your time here. You still went on working, traveling, visiting, helping others, and having fun. I miss you so much. Looking down these last few days, I'm sure you are proud of how your kids...

I am so sorry to hear about Mary Beth's passing. While I hadn't seen Bill or Mary Beth for a number of years, I was kept up to date by nutual friends, the Cavanaughs and Mary Mabus.
Mary Beth was such a lovely person. I always felt that she and Bill were the perfect couple and they were so much fun to be around when I knew them at St. Clement's. I feel bad that Bill and their children had to lose her so soon. But I am sure they will feel her presence around them as they live the rest...

We feel truly blessed to have known MaryBeth for 27 years. She was a true friend, fantastic penpal, and hearty camper. She always looked at the bright side and spread her good humour to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill, Paul, Elizabeth, and Annie.

Dear Bill, Paul, Elizabeth and Annie,
Please know that I am grateful for have known Mary Beth and to have called her a friend and P.E.O. sister. Her ability to show us all how to live each day thankful for who we are and willing to do what God has called us to do, will continue to be an inspiration to me. Please continue to feel the powerful prayers that are being sent your way.
With love,
