Mary Benedikt Schill CHARLESTON - Mary Benedikt Schill, 96, of Charleston and Sullivan's Island, SC, entered into eternal rest at her home on Tuesday November 29, 2011. Mary was born in Charleston, SC, on September 29, 1915. She was the daughter of Gustave Herman Benedikt and Marie McDougall Benedikt and was a 1933 graduate of Bishop England High School. Mary was the stenographer for the Charles R. Allen Brokerage Company and owned and operated the Economy Dry Cleaners with her husband, Joe, on King Street for twenty years. Mary was a member of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and The Cathedral Women's Club. She was also a member of the Quis Qui Auxiliary. She is survived by her children, Joseph Spencer Schill, Jr. (Shelia), Gustave Benedikt Schill (Mary), Patricia Schill Hocutt (Bill), Carolyn Schill Eiserhardt (Chuck), Jeannie Schill Hillock (Gordon) as well as 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Spencer Schill and two sisters Susan Patricia Benedikt and Augusta Benedikt Miller. The family was assisted by loving care givers, Mary Grant, Cynthia Eurie and Annie Ravenel. The relatives and friends of Mary B. Schill are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 2, 2011, at the Cathedral of St. John The Baptist. The Rite of Committal will follow at Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening between 4:00 and 7:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Association for the Blind, 1071 Morrison Drive Charleston, SC 29403 or Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach PO Box 607, John's Island SC 29457.
