Back in the 70s I was a student at the University of Redlands, and president of the Newman Club. You and your secretary Doris were so helpful to me in that ministry. I live in Nashville now. I lost touch with the Shockleys years ago, but I never forgot the kindness and warmth of both Mary Jim and Don. During my formative and adolescent years, I spent many hours at their home, and loved being around Mary Jim.
Mary Jim was a sweet person who always demonstrated the softer side of what being a mother means, which meant a lot to me at that time. I still remember her laugh and incredible knack for making amazing desserts.
