Read MoreI met Mary in Rome when I worked for Walter at FAO. I still have a copy of her book on NYC which she kindly gave me. Her husband was one of the most charming people I ever worked for -- capable, too -- and I am sad to think that I never met the Simons again after I left Rome in 1974. I have grieved over this lapse ever since. RIP Mary and Walter

What a great role model Mary was to me during my years at LOOK -- the epitome of intelligence, style and grace. The world is better for the beauty she brought to it. I'm so sad to hear of her death. My deep sympathy to her family.
