Grandma, you meant so much to me and were a huge part of my life. I remember when you were teaching me to read and write when I was three years old. I remember when you and granddad would have tea with me when I was a little girl and I remember when you let me drive when I was only 10 years old. I will miss you so much but am glad that you are back with granddad, your brother and your mom, as well as many others that have been waiting for you... rest in peace, grandma. I love you!

Aunt Mary was my mother and inspiration, she cared about all of our family and everyone she was in contact with. Aunt Mary leaves a wonderful legacy, her story and life live on in her children, grand children and great grand children.

Dear Woody, I am so sorry for your loss. I will never forget when you took me to meet your mother a few years ago. What an elegant lady.

Mary Sneed and I met as co-workers at Swain Dept. Social Services in late 50s where we continued for some years. Too, we were close neighbors on E. Main St.,
Bryson City for a time. An educated
attractive lady with a passion for her
people, she tutored me in "ways of the
Cherokee", and I accompanied her to
virtually every home on the Boundary, mostly on steep, foot trails. My 51
Chevy pickup was more adapted to totally unpaved roads than her sudan.

We are thinking of you during this difficult time, Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your Mother. We may not understand why she left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that she died, but that she lived. And that her life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. Our prayers are with you & your family.

I will always remember Mary because she cared so much about the Cherokee People and had many stories to tell about her life and experiences. Bless the ones that cared so much for her during her care and last days.
