Mary Somers

Mary Rose Somers, of Flint, age 89, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at her residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Friday, February 1, 2013 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Steve Anderson officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or Genesys Hospice. Visitation 2-8pm Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed at 7pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. Mary will be at the church 10am Friday until the time of the Mass. Mary was born in Flint on September 11, 1923, the daughter of the late Robert and Marguerite (Miner) Sanborn. On July 12, 1952, she married Clarence Somers and he passed away on May 28, 2000. Mary was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for 47 years. Surviving are children, Thomas and Sandra Somers, Julie and William Hosie, Martha and Zaghloul Khairallah, Amy and Timothy Bruce, Harry Somers, Alice and David Stamm and John Somers; grandchildren, Nikki and Shawn Klanseck, Thomas Somers II and Charity, Jason Bruce, William Hosie Jr. and Heather, Carey Bruce and Greg, Scott and Stephanie Hosie, Jill and Tracy Marsden, Alexandra Stamm, Christina Stamm, Megan Stamm, Noah Bruce and Ethan Khairallah; great-grandchildren, Rena, Spencer, Madeline, Micah, Vivian, Colton, Arabella and Liam; brothers, William (Shirley) Sanborn and John (Zada) Sanborn; and numerous other family members.
