She stayed at the farm helping her parents, brother, Lorne, and sister-in-law, Ann, until the age of 21 years, when she met the love of her life, Alex Strelioff in 1951.
Mary and Alex were married on November 29, 1952. Together, they were blessed with three children, Leonard in 1954, Nadia in 1956, and Evan in 1966.
Mary was very committed to her family. She spent a great deal of time with her grandchildren, Jason, Shayla, and Kyle.
Mary was a great cook which the family always enjoyed. A lot of meals included vegetables from the beautiful garden she kept. The borscht she made was always tasty. She loved knitting, crocheting, and sewing and made clothing for her kids and herself. She loved nature, enjoying all kinds of outdoor activities including picnics, birdwatching, and listening to frogs and was also known as a great fisher lady, especially on the boating outings.
Dedicated to her faith and Russian heritage, Mary was an active member of the Canora Doukhobor Choir. Music was always a big part of her life, and she especially enjoyed country style music.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, John E. E. and Nettie; husband, Alex; son, Evan; sister, Pauline and brother-in-law, Mike Sukorokoff; brother, Lorne and sister-in-law, Anne Dergousoff; and her brother-in-law, Paul J. Strelioff.
