Mary K. Sell Tuttle

HOBART, IN - Mary K. Sell Tuttle (nee Decker), age 88, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024. She was born on February 21, 1936, in Gary, IN, to the late Leroy and Edna Decker. Mary graduated from Hobart High School and lived in Hobart most of her life.

Mary was a member of the Retail Clerks Union and worked as a cashier in Glen Park at Garden City and Edmar Foods, as well as Scot Lad Foods and Key Markets. She also worked at Burrell Color Lab in Crown Point. She enjoyed working hard but she especially loved spending time with her family. The larger her family grew the happier she was. Some of her favorite things were camping, fishing, boating, waterskiing, bowling, traveling, Pinochle and Elvis Presley Music.

She is survived by her children: Robert (Sandy) Sell, Pamela (Joseph) Broadaway, Allen (Connie) Sell, Penny (Robert) Taylor; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild, which is on the way and due in September; and her dear sister, Sharon S. (Morrison) Hardesty; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 29 years, Chester K. Sell; and her second husband of 18 years, Walter D. Tuttle; brother, Garland Decker; sisters: Imogene Ruth Zimmerman, Delores Nelson, Beverly A. Pendergrass; and brother-in-law, David Pendergrass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary's name may be made to Dunes Hospice, 4711 Evans Ave. Valparaiso, IN, 46383.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 3, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at REES FUNERAL HOME, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.

Momma, as she liked to be called was the life of the party and loved to travel. She was generous and loving and kind. Family was everything to her. She was loved and will be sorely missed.
