Mrs. Mary Lou Williams, 56, of 1811 Pewsbury Rd., Charlotte, passed away at her residence on April 11, 2020.


Mrs. Mary “Lou” Williams, daughter of the late Albertha "Birdie" Guess and the late Morris Guess Jr., was born on December 20, 1963 in Orangeburg South Carolina. She entered into enteral rest on April 11, 2020, at her residence in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by two special sons Andrew (Stroke) Haynes and Milton Stacey Cummings.

On July 18, 2017 she married the love of her life John Williams.

She was a 1982 graduate of Elloree High School.  At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church.  In Mary Lou spare time, she enjoyed cooking, braiding hair, and spending time with her family and friends. She worked Ramada Inn, Hampton Inn, and lastly Wingate Hotel in Charlotte North Carolina.

Mary was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend and most important a loving mother.

Mary Lou leaves to cherish her memories her husband John Williams of Charlotte N.C; three loving daughters Keshia, Tiffaney, and Latisha Sellers all of Santee, South Carolina; two step daughters, Ashley Williams of Charlotte N.C and Kia Coles of Fairfield CT; four sisters, Norma (Franklin) Abraham, Katherine (Johnny) Butler, Jane (Albert) Perry, all of Santee SC and Flossie Glover of Orangeburg SC; four brothers Bobby Guess of Vance SC, Leroy (JoAnn) Guess of Highpoint NC, Curtis Glover of Orangeburg SC, and Anthony Glover of Santee SC; two aunts, Warren Jean (James) Gantt of Santee SC and Lizzie (Willie) Collier of Columbia SC; two uncles, Mayfield (Twanda) Profit of Maryland, Samuel Profit of Detroit, MI; her father-in-law, John C. Williams of Columbia SC; one sister-in-law, Thelma (Leroy) Holiday of Columbia SC; two brothers-in-law Harry (Eloise) Prezzie of Santee SC and Jermaine Williams of Thomasville, NC; 9 grandchildren, one great grandchild, one special grandson Kemondre Sellers, one god daughter Jasmine Tilley; three special sons Stayc Cummings, Percy Moore and Duntrell Jackson; a special niece who she took as a daughter, Valeria (Larry) Rhodes of Orangeburg SC; special nephews Jonathan (Tynisha) Guess, Dujuan Ravenell, Kelvin Guess, Derrick Sellers, one special niece Felicia Sellers, three special friends Sadiqa Burr, Beverly Pelzer, and Debra Tilley.


Graveside services for Mrs. Williams will be held at 11 AM Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Island Cemetery with Rev. Alphonso Fogle officiating.  As we adhere to COVID-19 precautions, the graveside services will allow for no more than 10 immediate family members.  Please feel free to express online condolences to the family at [email protected].   


Friends may call at the residence of her daughter Tip Sellers, 589 Carriage Hill Rd., Elloree, between the hours of 2 and 9 pm daily, and at Williams Funeral Home of Elloree.

Mary touched all coworkers in such a special way with her kind loving way. She was loved by all of us at the Wingate by Wyndham. When we needed her she was there always. I loved coming in seeing her smile and loving way having loving conversations. She was my buddy. I will miss her greatly. All our employees miss her. She was family and loved by all. Great Godly Soul
