Mary Louise Yopes

Mary was my neighbor in Bethesda. I was a young mother at the time. Though Mary was only 15 years my senior, she took me "under her wing" and shared so much that a young woman could only learn from a mentor. Mary taught me many skills of cooking and sewing, all important household skills for a parent of the '60's. My condolences to the entire Yopes family. I have so many memories going back over 50 years of Mrs. Yopes when I would be over at their home in Bethesda. Jennifer Is a life long friend of mine and I would sleep over at times or just visit. Mr. and Mrs. Yopes always welcomed me into their home with big greetings, smiles, food, music and engaging conversation. For many many years I played in a tennis group with Mary at CCRA and elsewhere. In later years I looked forward to running into at the pool as we always enjoyed seeing each other. She has been my inspiration as I now approach my 83rd birthday and am still playing tennis and swimming. I will miss seeing her. My condolences to her whole family. We all were fortunate to have had her in our lives.
