Maryellen has been gone from us now for 3 long years.... What would she have made of this Covid mess cutting down on her cherished travelling time? We had some wonderful times together over the years, especially in Paris. My sister was pregnant when we visited Maryellen in Renssellaer and my nephew is now about to turn 50! Although I wound up settling in Rome, she would always pop up here on her way to somewhere or other. A voracious reader, a people person, a political activist, a warm and...

Memories of Maryellen....
Americans in Paris days...and nights of escargots in butter and garlic sauce at le Druot in the Latin Quarter or raw oysters in fresh lemon juice in Montparnasse after teaching late evening English lessons at Berlitz. C'etait le temps des fleurs...
M's peals of laughter as she told us about her early morning private student's greeting as she arrived at the school bleary eyed after a late night of cerises a l'eau de vie in Montmartre: "Good morning,...

Remembering Mary Ellen one year on.... Still hard to believe she is not planning some European trip or Mediterranean cruise that would have her wind up on our doorstep in Rome... Fond memories of meeting strapping grandson Charlie and touring Piazza Navona with him and of hooking up with daughter Lisa and simpatica friend in front of the statue of Pope John Paul II outside Termini Station. Will never forget our long ago Paris days and snowstorms in Renssaleur and clam chowder on Long Beach...

So sorry I was unable to attend the service but illessness prevented it, I send a loving hug to...

Lisa, and family I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I only knew her a short while but I am so glad I did. I loved going to her house for 2 hours a day, 4 days a week to help her with whatever she would want me to do for that day. She was so easy to please and get a long with. I loved feeding her ferral cats and watching them come up on the deck once the bowl was filled. I love seeing the picture of Maryellen in her friend Peters house, when I go their to clean. What a magnificent...

I am an old friend of MaryEllen's from her Paris days in the late 60s-early 70s. Those were indeed the days, my friend!
Hailing from Cleveland, I also had the pleasure of visiting with her in the States, both at her home in Rensselaer and on vacation on Long Beach Island (NJ), where she and my Italian husband Bruno had long philosophical talks over clam chowder. She visited us several times at our home in Rome, Italy, and her high energy, acute sense of humor, and intellectual curiosity...
