Mathilda "Tillie" Schaefer

My mother and her sisters became friends with the Lorenzens and particularly Tillie, Cecelia, and Theresia when they were children near Motley, MN. She kept in touch with my Mom by letter and holiday cards and wrote me a delightful letter in 2012, just before her 100th birthday. Mrs Schaefer was one of the kindest happiest teachers I had at St. John Cantius School for 3rd grade in 1966. Her eyes sparkled when she smiled. She truly enjoyed seeing her former students through out the years and took the time to visit with us. She will be missed, but not forgotten. Jeanie Kalla Sternhagen

Tillie was one of the best @ SJC! Being in her classroom was always a joy which was contagious.

One of the only teachers I remember fondly. She had a way of making learning easy & she gave me my love of fractions. Truly a Remarkable Teacher!!

Tillie was my 3rd grade teacher at St. Mary's in 1957. She was one of my favorite teachers and she always remembered me once we met as adults.
