Not sure what to say?

Tillie will be missed by her legions of friends. Our paths crossed only once, in 1997 at her famed hostel in Virginia, but I will always remember her as a kind lady who had a gentle toughness about her if that makes any sense. She was also a great Southern cook--just ask any of the thousands of Appalachian Trail hikers she prepared breakfast for!

She wouldn't accept money to stay there, only that you do a sort of "work-for-stay." That entailed going into the woods and finding just one...

My heart goes out to all the family and to ALL the friends that are left.I have had the honor of being one of those friends - I shall cherish her memory! I am sorry that I could not be present at the service today. I am there in spirit!God bless!

My thoughts are with the family of this generous grandlady of the Appalachian Trail. I have always treasured the moments I spent at Woods Hole and the memory of the hospitality of Miss Tillie.

We have lost a dear friend who for many years was a beloved member of the Roswell Book Club. We will all miss her gracious presence in our lives. My deepest sympathy to her children and grandchildren who are in my prayers as they mourn her passing.

What a fantastic lady she was. I knew her through our association with Crest Realty, many years ago. She leaves a great legasy for which I know you are extremely proud. My deepest sympathies to the family.

Our sincere sympathy on the passing of a great lady...

To Mary Jo, Ben and Jere,
We am so sorry about your Mother's passing. Joey and I remember her with love and friendship. We always had a good time at your home and of course she was Joey's teacher.
I'm sorry that Ken (my husband and Judy) Joe's wife did not get to know her.
I have heard from Aunt Mary Clara from time to time about Mrs. Wood. Our prayers are with you and your families.

I am so sorry to hear about Ms. Tillie passing. I am so glad to have been able to share a few hours with her and her grandaughter this summer. She shared so many wonderful stories about her years of helping Appalachian Trail Hikers. She will be sadly missed on the AT! My condolences to Ms. Tillies family... please know that your beloved was special to so many people that you never knew.

Well, the Trimble-Wood friendship goes back to 1960 when my parents moved to Roswell. A lot has happened over the years, but what I'll now miss most is hearing Tillie say "Beej" over the phone, and visiting that "House of the Woods" during Christmas and other family holidays. And what an epic happening when Mother died the next day after Tillie.
Our best to Jerry, Ben and all the family. Ben and Joanne Trimble
