Goalie for the National Hockey League’s
Columbus Blue Jackets)

Sunlight touches the summit
before it finds
the route into the valley,

I am the first

figure it caresses,
it outlines in the early hours
of this unformed day,

I am the first peaceful explorer

in the engaging light
of the dawning

Please accept my sincere condolences to the Kivlenieks Family for your beloved son and friend Matss, gone too soon. May the God of all comfort who is the hearer of prayers be with you in your time of need with his loving kindness and peace as He strengthens you to cope during this difficult time. May family, friends and extended family cherish his memories.

What a fine young man, hero. Enjoyed watching him play in the USHL . Praying for the family.

My condolences to the family of Matiss, his teammates and his many friends. May the love you shared and the memories made bring you comfort today and in the days ahead.

Your smile brightened everyone’s day, you died a hero. Rest In Paradise, kivi. You will be sorely missed.

RIP #80 Such a beautiful soul gone too soon but never to be forgotten. Fly high with the angels. You will forever be missed. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and teammates.

It says a lot about this young man that nearly every non-game photo I have seen of him involved he providing a photo op to youngsters. always with both smiling. Someday, at least one will, like Kivi, work hard and appear in the NHL. no doubt influenced in part by this fine young man who, even at only 24, was about to make a big impact on our Blue Jackets! Rest in Peace, Kivi.
