To the family of Matt Martinez, Sr.
I'm sorry to hear about Matt's passing. I had relatives that lived at 2302 E. 1st for many years; the Dickersons. My parents and my brother and I lived next door for a while as well; the Rades. Remembered Matt from when I was a child living in Austin. He knew my Mom and Dad. Even as a child I remember him being so kind. And can never forget the "good" food. NC has a few Mexican restaurants, but nothing to compare with El Rancho. Very sad to hear of Matt's death.

My late father-in-law, Arthur Casiraghi, paid Mr. Martinez the ultimate compliment possible from him - eating in his restaurant on his day off. One of his last social outings was to a birthday party for Mr. Martinez which he enjoyed so much. El Mat is a part of Austin heritage and we join his family in mourning his loss.
