Bluesman Matt 'Guitar' Murphy was a standout musician with a big heart. His family is, without any doubt, very proud of Matt. My wife and I met him at The House of Blues in Atlanta during the '96 Olympic Games. We were preparing to leave the club when Matt approached and asked us to stay because he was about to go onstage. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Murphy here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada while playing at the King Eddie Hotel. As the band took a break I was standing outside with him and talking. He found out I was a mechanic and asked me to look at his Cadillac because it was not running good. Sure I said. He picked me up next morning drove back to the hotel and he flipped his keys and said bring it back when it is done. My friend and fixed his car and he was very happy. All 3 of us hung out for the...
