I met Matt in 1999, as I was considering a move from Mass General to the Brigham. I specialized in stroke and aneurysm treatment using minimally invasive methods, and was asked to describe and configure an independent such program at the Brigham. Matt was one of the key individuals I spoke with in imagining and describing such a service. Matt brought it all together. I just recently learned of Matt's passing. Matt and I went to Grad School together and hung out a lot. We drove back to Syracuse one September either '81 or '82 in my old Datsun 260Z and had a blast. I also drove from Dayton Ohio to St. Louis to see him for a party filled weekend. The last time I saw him was in Chicago at a ACHE Conference.... We had dinner and caught up. I became involved with Matt at Spectrum through membership on PFAC, an organization that was a listening avenue for hospital management to hear what was going on at the hospital from a patients perspective. Matt got it! He realized how important the customer' was to the success of the hospital. I held him in the highest esteem and credit Matt and Kris for heading up and leading that council. Our deepest sympathies to Kris and the family. May your memories of his good life carry you through...
