Matt was born in Detroit, MI to the late Helena Mae and Matthew Peter Bering. Matt graduated from Rochester Hills High School, Class of 1974. He then attended Western Michigan and furthered his education at Delta and the University of Michigan. He retired from General Motors after 30 years, where he worked as a journeyman electrician. He then pursued his second career as Vice President Regional Manager of Business Banking with J.P. Morgan Chase. Matthew had a lifelong love affair winding through curves on his motorcycle, exploring the deep blue horizons on his Sea Ray Sundancer, and romping through powdered snow on his snowmobiles. Above all, he loved his family. Matthew married the love of his life, Jackie, 34 years ago on August 22, 1986. Together they raised two beautiful children that he was very proud of, son Matthew (Bud Bud) and daughter Katelyn (Boo Boo). He was an active member of the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce and was on the board for Mount Hope Church of Grand Blanc. Matthew enjoyed creating conversations, eating, working out at Powerhouse in Fenton, vacationing, boating, working with numbers and most importantly he loved church and had a strong faith in God. Matthew was a fighter. He was genuine, conversational, an achiever, successful, smart, and always pushed others to their maximum potential. He was very loving and motivational. Matthew never skipped a beat with his family and filled so many people with the incredible joy he felt for life. Through every circumstance, he was working to bring into your life more of the character of Christ, the love, grace, hope and joy of Jesus. "Long live the beauty that comes down and shine through into all of us."

He was preceded in death by his parents: Helena Mae and Matthew Peter Bering. Surviving are wife Jacqueline (Jackie Mannon), Matthew Mark Bering ll (son), Katelyn Elizabeth Bering (daughter), sister Lyda "Robin" Bishop and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Matt was the most amazing man I’ve ever met. He was so pure and loving, I met him at the gym when I was just young man, and ever since then he believed in me, and taught me so much. He always had my back and gave me advice. He always talked so highly about his family, goals, and hobbies, and I’ve always looked up to him and respected him. My condolences go out to his family and loved ones, and I will always remember him.

I am still not grasping a man with so much energy and good in him is gone.. I am deeply sorry I didn't stop by today. I didn't look for this until it was too late. I just can't think of Matt and us not having a good time.

My condolences to the family. I worked with Matt as one of his Chase partners and we developed a friendship beyond Chase that was special. I'll miss that one question Matt always had for me in our team meetings. You will be missed. God Bless!

Kate, we are so sorry. We will continue to pray for you and your family. Sending lots of love and prayers your way
