Matthew B. Buczek, Phd

Around 1988 and 1989, Dr Buczek was my technical contact in Evendale. During my long career, he stands out as one of the most outstanding technical experts I have worked with. I met him a number of times both in Evendale and in Niskayuna New York to discuss the scope of his projects and the technical details of the work for his programs on composite material structures. He was two years younger than me. So sad to learn that he had health problems at a young age.

Matt was truly a very special person--he was one of the smartest persons I've known, has a number of patents attesting to his creative talents, was a suberb manager, was a terrific mentor and coach within our materials lab, and never lost sight of the importance of being a great family man. I am honored to have met and worked with such a kind and talented person. Though I only worked with him for a short time, I learned so much from him. I hope that you can take comfort in knowing that Matt was special and touched so many people in such a meaningful way. Peace and comfort to you in the days ahead.

I have not been with GE for long but Matt's perseverance in doing the things he believes in regardless of personal circumstances has been a strong inspiration for me. Great honor to have the few brief interactions with him. I am certain his attitude will remain with all at work.
