Not sure what to say?

Today May 24, 2024, I was handed Matthew's name to be honored at my workplace. We honor over 7000 soldiers every year for Memorial Day. I will honor Matthew who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Matthew has an outstanding story here. I extend my deepest gratitude to Matthew's sacrifice this Memorial Day and future Memorial days to come. Matthew is not forgotten.

My name is Jason aparicio. Matthew Conte was one of my best friends and a person that I did consider to me is more close as a brother. I've been searching for Matthew Conte or trying to get ahold of his mom and dad for all these years just to tell them that I missed them. I remember one time when he was going to go visit his mom and dad and his family in Ohio I didn't have nowhere to go so I decided to take a trip with him that was the first and most important thing I ever did but...

I never got the chance to meet you. But my brother, Mike Watson, speaks very highly of you quite often.
Just today we were talking to a corpsman who serves in yours and my brother's old unit and your name came up.
I just wanted to say you're not forgotten. You are and will always be remembered.

Take care brother.

what id do to see your smile again

God Matt idk where to start.. Its been almost 10 years and not a day goes by I don't think of you.. I wish it was easier to look at a picture of you and not cry. I wish your nieces could have met you. God knows you would have spoiled them. Nevaeh askes about you and she knows you're her uncle in heaven watching her. She knows how you passed and she "misses" you even though she was born over 2 years later. Every year on your birthday and death date I cry. Never fails. You are one person I wish...

I was looking at a photo we took in 2/3 today where Matt is front and center. So I decided to look for a memorial for him. I was deeply saddened when I'd heard of his passing, but hadn't written anything till today. I just want to let you know that even now many years later people who served with him, whose lives he touched, still remember him, and Always will.

Matt was my bestfriend at the start of Corps School, and we flew to Hawaii together.

After 6 years, it still is so weird of not hearing your voice. We had the best of times together. From skateboarding in Waikiki to just having our barracks sleepovers and talking about our favorite childhood memories, you were my home away from home. I love you bro. I'm living my life for you.

If anyone knows where Matt lies peacefully, please email me! [email protected]

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Conte Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May...
