Matthew P. Davis, 37, of Fitchburg, formerly of Baldwinville, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 23, 2011 at home. Matthew, son of Geraldine M. (Stowell) Davis and the late George R. Davis, was born in Fitchburg on July 6, 1973 and lived in Baldwinville for most of his life. He graduated from Narragansett Regional High School, class of 1991. He was presently employed at Hannafords Supermarket in Lunenburg and was previously employed at Stop and Shop in Gardner. Matthew was an incredibly gifted musical artist. He could play nearly any instrument that was put in front of him, including keyboard, guitar, drums, cello and banjo. He wrote music and performed in several bands including the band "Twelfth of Never" in which he played keyboard and Faces of Bayon in which he played drums. He also produced ethereal keyboard sounds as "Secret Stairways." He will be long remembered as a much loved father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Matthew will be sadly missed by his mother, Geraldine M. (Stowell) Davis of Baldwinville; his daughter, Lilian Bottcher of Londonderry, New Hampshire; a brother, Robert G. Davis of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Kathleen M. Davis, with whom he lived and Julie A. Hoover of Gardner. He also leaves an aunt and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Matthews's life by gathering for calling hours in the Community Chapel of Lamoureux Fletcher & Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 2-4 pm. A funeral service will follow the visiting hours at 4PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions in his memory be made to the Lilian Bottcher Education Fund, c/o Citizens Bank, PO Box 42006, Providence, RI 02940. Not sure what to say?

I discovered Secret Stairways about mid 2024 and I was interested in the artist behind, sadly to find out he had passed out long time ago. Your art still remains, Matthew, and you will be remembered beyond your fantasy realms.

Just discovered dungeon synth and the album enchantment of the ring. What beautiful melancholy I´ve felt my whole life and is perfectly expressed in this music. Thank you Mathew . You are missed.

I pray that your soul is free to soar among the crumbling, beautiful towers, that your music suggests. Thanks so much for Secret Stairways.

Your music on Secret Stairways is truly magical and uplifting. Rest easy, and deepest condolences to Your family.

Dear Matthew, only God knows what feelings and thoughts you have had when creating music as terribly sublime and at the same time beautiful as that of Secret Stairways. I would have liked very much to meet you, perhaps in the afterlife. My deepest condolences for the irreplaceable loss of such a magnificent artist.

You are still sorely missed. I hope you found the peace your soul yearned for.

I discovered Secret Stairways on Youtube and got curious about the artist behind the music.

Here because of Secret Stairways. Matthew's music is majestic and will never be forgotten by me, I will be listening for the rest of my life. When I listen I am taken away to another place of peace and tranquility. His family should be so proud.
