Matthew P. Davis, 37, of Fitchburg, formerly of Baldwinville, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 23, 2011 at home. Matthew, son of Geraldine M. (Stowell) Davis and the late George R. Davis, was born in Fitchburg on July 6, 1973 and lived in Baldwinville for most of his life. He graduated from Narragansett Regional High School, class of 1991. He was presently employed at Hannafords Supermarket in Lunenburg and was previously employed at Stop and Shop in Gardner. Matthew was an incredibly gifted musical artist. He could play nearly any instrument that was put in front of him, including keyboard, guitar, drums, cello and banjo. He wrote music and performed in several bands including the band "Twelfth of Never" in which he played keyboard and Faces of Bayon in which he played drums. He also produced ethereal keyboard sounds as "Secret Stairways." He will be long remembered as a much loved father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Matthew will be sadly missed by his mother, Geraldine M. (Stowell) Davis of Baldwinville; his daughter, Lilian Bottcher of Londonderry, New Hampshire; a brother, Robert G. Davis of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Kathleen M. Davis, with whom he lived and Julie A. Hoover of Gardner. He also leaves an aunt and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Matthews's life by gathering for calling hours in the Community Chapel of Lamoureux Fletcher & Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 2-4 pm. A funeral service will follow the visiting hours at 4PM.
