Not sure what to say?

I was so blessed to have Uncle Matt as my godfather. His love and generosity and enthusiasm were a gift to all. I will miss him so very much.
John Mariano

Matt was certainly one-of-a-kind. Through my years at Georgetown I enjoyed his company and the many adventures we had. How he allowed Mariano and me to drive around in his Daimler still shocks me to this day? In the days after I left the district and came back to visit, Matt opened his house to my entire family and always made us feel welcome. There are too many memories to fit in here, but from AV Ristorante to hanging in Palm Beach, we will never forget him. May he rest in peace.

What a terrible loss to the community. I went all through Holy Trinity Grade School with Matt and attended the 50th reunion at his home. He always had a nice word to say about everyone and made you feel good when you were around him. He gave me a framed picture of the two of us in the 8th grade when I was at the reunion. What a lovely family. My heartfelt condolences go out to each of them. He will be missed by all of those who knew him. He was an inspiration. Jeanne DeMarco

Matt will be remembered by so many Georgetown friends for his sense of humor, generosity and "open door" policy for anyone he had ever known.
There were so many happy times spent at his home. He was truly "one of a kind". We will all miss him!. Kaye McGarty

Matt Donahue definitely inspired my Georgetown University devotion. He was a generous, smart, funny, and had a sense of tradition that was contagious. As a 1986 grad, I recall him driving us -and loads of students- to Hoya games in his old Bentley. He even loaned me an empty bar once to celebrate my birthday! I still use many of his old jokes:("Nice to meet you" answered by "Nice to be met".) Although his way of telling them was what made them so funny. Since I have family in DC, I made sure...

What a great, one of a kind friend. Will truly be missed. Our heartfelt condolences to his wonderful family.

I honestly have not seen Matt in a couple of years but despite that I am deeply saddened by his loss. He was one of my regulars at the Tombs while I waited and bartended and he was always one of my favorite patrons. "Peace" with bunny ears on both hands was his greeting and "God Bless" was his departure but the magic was all that transpired in between. I left the Tombs in 2006, and I think I saw him once since. I wish in the last few times that I was at the Tombs I would have bumped into...
