Matthew Paul Eckley

We have just learned of Matt's death and we are saddened beyond words. We send our love to all of you and, especially, a big hug for Paul.

Ya know I had not wrote anything in this guestbook because I still didn't want to believe it. Its kind of weird to sit and think about it when certain things happen in the county. It almost feels like at any moment during our long night shifts we could hear the door open and hear you say now let me tell ya what or you gotta hear this. You are still missed greatly by the group on the hill buddy. Save me a spot in the Mack Firehouse in the sky.

I miss you but I know you are “Matt Medic” the rescue hero angel in heaven now. I know you are with your mom and Jesus. Thank you for the pennies, they always make me think of you. I loved having you as my new cousin. I thought your truck was really cool. I will never forget you Matt.

Well, Matt was always a bright hearted individual that I met at the hospital because of him working for Medic 29. He was a great medic and always made the night's interesting at Fame. Prayers go out to Matt's family along with Nicki. You'll never be forgotten, Matt.

I only have know Matt for just less than a year. I have always heard stories about "Eckley". Then one day I met him and boy was it something. He has a way about him to make even the worst situations "entertaining". I know he touched my life and by the turnout at his service and funeral he touched many other people in his short time with us. Goes to show what kind of a person his family raised. I new matt from spending every bit of the summer days at the elks club pool as kids. It's so sad to loose such a young hardworking man. From the sounds of it he lived his life fully, Not taking anything for granted. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. May god keep your hearts at ease.

I met Matt a few years back while working EMS in J-County. At first I thought who is this guy, I'm really glad I had the opportunity to find out. Matt turned me into his hairdresser (that was fun, cause he like his head shaved closed, yikes) Whether it was him yapping about MASH or us sharing coffee, I always enjoyed his stories.
