Mr. Matthew Lee Elmore, 32, of Hickory, died Wednesday August 17, 2016 at his residence after a brief illness. Matthew was born July 8, 1984 in Catawba County, a son of Jeffrey C. and Kimberly Scott Elmore. He was employed as a machine operator in the cable manufacturing industry. He was preceded in death by a son Alex Elmore, grandparents Hugh Elmore, Betty Lowman and Uncle Jerry Scott. Surviving are his father, Jeffrey C. Elmore of Hickory, mother Kimberly Scott Elmore of Hickory, three children, Cameron, Destiny and Taylor all of Siler City, NC, and step-father, Darin Miller of Hickory. Also surviving are his grandmother, Barbara Scott of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, and aunts, Ann Swink, Sherry Burleson and Robin McCree. Funeral Services for Matthew Lee Elmore will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday August 20, 2016 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese with Pastor Ken Vanbuskirk officiating. Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9:00 P.M. Friday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese. An online guestbook and obituary is available at www.heritagefuneralservice.com.
Sad to hear the news.. Many fond memories with Matt growing up.. May you rest in peace Matthew, as you are in good hands now with the Lord.

Jeff there are no words I can say to make this easier for you, I have been through it and there are no words to describe the hurt a parent feels when losing a child. I've known Matt since before he met his wife Jennifer. My son Duran fished for carp together & he kept in touch with us through the years of his marriage & separation from Jen. I know he loved his children & missed them dearly. He was a kind hearted person & I am very sorry for your loss, Matt was a truly great guy, a dear friend of my family & we will miss him! Duran spent time with Matt & his dad & got to know Matts aunt & uncle who raised him. He will be greatly missed!
